Sustainable with a sense of social responsibility
Our actions are based on sustainability. Humankind and the environment play a major role in all our business decisions. We strive to save resources, achieve regenerability and act in a socially responsible manner.
Products
Products developed, manufactured and sold by KLUG-CONSERVATION are made from 100% fresh fiber cellulose with FSC certification. Our adhesives and additives are produced sustainably and from natural raw materials, such as vegetable starch or gelatin, when possible. Waste is recycled according to type. Our quality management system, which will be certified in spring 2021, encompasses the description and continuous monitoring of all our processes. (key words DIN ISO 9001, FSC, environmental protection according to DIN ISO 14001)
Energy efficiency
We make sure that resources are used diligently in all production processes. Our production building is designed as a passive house in compliance with the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 2013). We also use a solar energy system with battery storage for generation and consumption of about 65% of our on-site electricity. In the next few years, we aim to increase the proportion of self-generated electricity by means of further, improved storage facilities, which are however not yet available on the market currently. We moreover select our suppliers with a view to their implementation of environmental-friendly and sustainable methods. This is clearly evident with regard to transport for example, such as freight forwarders using trucks fitted with the latest exhaust gas technology, e-mobility vehicles or paperless process chains.
Social commitment
In the event of a catastrophe, KLUG-CONSERVATION is actively committed to the preservation of cultural assets, e.g. during the flooding of the River Oder some years ago, the collapse of the Cologne City Archive, the fire in the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar, as well as locally by supporting schools, kindergartens, sports clubs, museums, archives and libraries. We also regularly commission non-profit institutions for the disabled with partial production orders, in particular board packaging and accessory products.
