Sustainability as a corporate value
Shaping sustainable future with social responsibility
Sustainability is the guiding principle of our actions. People and the environment play a major role in all our business decisions. We strive to conserve resources, preserve regenerative capacity, and act with social responsibility.
At our Immenstadt production site, we embrace environmentally friendly manufacturing processes that conserve resources and maximize energy efficiency. Many of our products carry internationally recognized environmental certifications and are manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines.
All products developed, manufactured, and distributed by KLUG-CONSERVATION are made from 100% virgin fibre pulp with FSC® certification. Adhesives and additives we use are sourced – whenever possible – from natural raw materials such as plant-based starch or gelatine. Production waste is carefully sorted according to type and recycled. Within our quality management system (DIN ISO 9001, FSC, DIN ISO 14001, LUCID), all processes are fully documented and subject to continuous monitoring.
Energy efficiency and resource management
We make sure that resources are used diligently in all production processes. Our production building is designed as a passive house in compliance with the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 2013). We also use a solar energy system with battery storage for generation and consumption of about 65% of our on-site electricity. In the next few years, we aim to increase the proportion of self-generated electricity by means of further, improved storage facilities, which are however not yet available on the market currently.
We moreover select our suppliers and transport partners based on their ecological standards (implementation of environmental-friendly and sustainable methods). This is particularly evident in logistics: for example, freight forwarders using trucks with the latest emission technologies, e-mobility vehicles as well as paperless process chains.
Every step counts
KLUG-CONSERVATION has voluntarily committed to becoming climate-neutral by 2030. Our primary focus is on reducing self-produced CO2 emissions through improved energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. To achieve this, we have joined the Climate-Neutral Allgaeu Alliance
Our key measures include:
- Passive house company building (EnEV 2013)
- 65% In - house solar power generation, remaining electricity: 100% green energy
- Transition to LED lighting
- Efficient vacuum turbines replace vacuum pumps
- In-house EV charging stations
- Heat recovery via heat exchanger system
- Additional heating from 100% eco‑gas
- Energy-efficient high - pressure pump for air humidification
- AI - controlled radiator valves
- Avoidance of car and air travel, increased use of video conferencing
- Paperless business processes
- Optimized raw material usage through new technologies
- Pollination- friendly landscaping on company grounds
- Fair-trade organic products for employee catering
- In-house water treatment instead of transporting bottled water
- Recycling, sorting, waste recycling and recovery
- Reduced hygiene paper consumption through new dispenser systems
- Climate - neutral parcel and freight shipping
- Reuse of packaging materials, switch to paper tape, usage of exchange pallets
- Home office options, company bike leasing
- Two-shift operation
- Discounted vehicle - charging for employees
Unavoidable residual emissions are offset by supporting high‑quality climate protection projects both regionally and globally.
Social Commitment
KLUG-CONSERVATION is actively committed to the preservation of cultural assets in times of disaster, such as during the flooding of the river „Oder“ some years ago, the collapse of the Cologne City Archives, the fire at the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar.
In addition, we actively support local high schools, kindergartens (nursery schools), sports clubs, museums, archives, and libraries.
Our production partners particularly in the manufacturing of packaging and accessory items include non-profit organizations for people with disabilities, ensuring social impact at every step.
